Visualize - Web Page Dimensions/Width

You're ready to create a website. You start sketching, but then realize, what size does it need to be? When you make a web page, it can be any dimension you want it to be. One thing to keep in mind, is that people don't like to scroll a lot, especially to the right. That means how wide the web page is, can be very important.

Whether you're center aligning the design or aligning the design to the left, you can use either of these guides to help you determine the website dimensions. Keep in mind that when you're trying to figure out the dimensions of a page, there really is no standard web page size. The reason that there isn't a set web design size, is because not everyone's computer monitor is set to the same resolution or even the same size.

The links below show a lot of different page widths. The wider a website gets, the bigger chance it has of making people scroll horizontally. In the image, the closer the widths get to red, the higher the chance of the width being too wide.

Web Page Dimensions - Left Aligned
Web Page Dimensions - Center Aligned

I hope this helps you with designing and setting up your website. If you like it, please tweet about it or share the link with others on your blog.
